Wind Farm Vote Tomorrow
Wednesday, May 12, 2010
The state Senate Committee on Environment and Agriculture will be voting on the wind farm bill tomorrow.
The bill, 2010-S 2819, changes the process for approving a contract between National Grid and Deepwater Wind, the developer of a proposed wind farm off Block Island.
In March, the Public Utilities Commission rejected the contract. But, under the bill, the approval authority would be shifted to four other state agencies: the Division of Public Utilities and Carriers, the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, and the Office of Energy Resources and the Department of Administration.
