EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Councilman Has Physical Confrontation with Fellow Councilman’s Son

Councilman Izzi
On Monday, Scituate Councilman Nick Izzi was captured on video swearing and, what looks to be physically assaulting Chuck Coliins, III on video.  Collins approached Izzi at a convenience store and asked him about a potential ethics violation and Izzi responded with swearing and some form of physical altercation.

According to Collins, the relationship between himself and Izzi has deteriorated over the recent year and Collins claims Izzi has been harassing him and his family.

Izzi, reached by phone on Tuesday said, “I am not saying anything until I hire a lawyer.”

“Nick Izzi has been harassing me and my family. He is using his position on the Council for his own,” said Collins.

Collins said the Rhode Island State Police have been notified and they are reviewing the store video. GoLocal is awaiting confirmation from the State Police.

Collins has published the following on his Facebook page about the ongoing dispute:

Since the last election in our town our Independents have slandered pretty much everybody at one point or another. Talks of backroom deals and blah blah blah. So you can imagine my surprise when I recently realized that John Robinson was appointed to EMA Director. I thought well isn't that nice for he is Councilman Izzi's cousin. Surely since the Independents campaign platform was based on ethics and transparency there is no way he could have voted on this. He must have recused himself right? Then I thought he would have to vote to guarantee a yes vote.

So I decided to go through all the minutes of the past meetings (what a drag) to find out and sure enough, he voted not once but twice. As you can see in this post he voted yes on the hire and to approve his contract. I then looked up nepotism in the RI code of ethics which you can also see in this post. Seems pretty obvious but I spoke with the ethics commission just to confirm. Now I just have to file a request so we can know the amount to which he is being paid. I believe its 35-40k. My real question is where is everbody else? This happened months ago. All we keep seeing is talk of ethics and transparency and bipartisan mumbo jumbo. Honestly, I don't want to hear it anymore. Don't worry about slacking though. If my research on this is correct the statute of limitations is 6 years.
