Video of the abduction of a 9-year-old girl on Monday shows the moment the suspect snatched her off the street.

On Tuesday night, police said they had a suspect in custody.

According to Providence police, a 34-year-old Cranston man is in custody.

Latest Development:

As police reported Monday night: 

"At approximately 3:00 p.m. [Monday], October 5, 2020, a 9-year-old female was abducted after exiting her school bus and proceeded to walk in the area in the area of Grover and Merino Streets," said police is an alert to the media.

According to the police, the suspect responsible is believed to be a 20-40-year-old Hispanic male wearing all black with black hair operating a silver Nissan SUV. 

The victim was later returned to a nearby location and police are actively looking for the subject and vehicle involved related to this incident.
