Trump Fires Bondi

Pam Bondi testifying before Congress

United States Attorney General Pam Bondi is out of the Trump Administration, the President announced on Thursday.

President Donald Trump took to social media to share the announcement. He wrote:

"Pam Bondi is a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend, who faithfully served as my Attorney General over the past year. Pam did a tremendous job overseeing a massive crackdown in Crime across our Country, with Murders plummeting to their lowest level since 1900. We love Pam, and she will be transitioning to a much needed and important new job in the private sector, to be announced at a date in the near future, and our Deputy Attorney General, and a very talented and respected Legal Mind, Todd Blanche, will step in to serve as Acting Attorney General. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

It marks the latest departure of a previous Trump loyalist in the administration.

In March, Trump announced Homeland Security Director Kristi Noem was out after a series of failures.

Epstein Factor

One of the lightning rod issues under Bondi was how the Jeffrey Epstein files were released.

"Trump was clearly frustrated with Bondi's handling of the Epstein files, which caused a stir among the MAGA base," wrote Axios. "Bondi promised early on to release the evidence, claiming there was an Epstein client list on her desk. She then backtracked on the pledge, leading to bipartisan criticism."

In response to reports that President Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) released the following statement:
“Under Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Department of Justice became a cesspool of corruption. Bondi will be remembered for blocking the release of the Epstein files, weaponizing the DOJ to go after Trump’s political opponents, and handing out merger approvals as political favors. Good riddance.”
