The Rhode Island Student Loan Authority is currently offering free FAFSA completion assistance through its College Planning Center (CPC)

The CPC has been offering free FAFSA completion assistance since 1998 and says that in this inflationary climate, receiving financial assistance for college expenses is needed even more.

“Money for college starts with the FAFSA," said Stacy Crooks, Director of CPC. "By submitting your FAFSA, you are casting the widest net for financial aid eligibility which includes federal, state, and school-specific aid awards.”

“The 2023/2024 school year is the last year of FAFSA as we have known it," she added. "FAFSA will of course continue, but under the FAFSA Simplification Act, families will be looking at changes that could affect eligibility and award amounts for future years.”

According to the National College Attainment Network, for the class of 2021 in the State of Rhode Island, $8,048,815 Pell Grant award aid dollars went unclaimed.  Submitting a FAFSA is all that is needed for a student to determine eligibility for up to $6,895.
