Regunberg Pushes for Green New Deal in RI
Wednesday, March 06, 2019
Aaron Regunberg is calling for a Green New Deal.
“We need climate solutions at a scale that reflects the danger we face. Report after report on climate change from NASA, the United Nations, and leading scientific institutions have made clear that without sweeping action, human civilization as we know it is at risk. The Green New Deal is the sweeping action we need: a bold investment to reimagine our energy system, lift families out of poverty, and grow our middle class,” said Regunberg.
Regunberg will present the resolution on Thursday, March 7 at 3 p.m. in the Rhode Island State House Library. Regunberg is a former State Representative who lost his bid for the Democratic nomination for Lt. Governor in 2018.

About the Green New Deal, Regunberg writes:
"This Green New Deal policy framework has entered the conversation in Congress. But we can’t wait for solutions to come out of Washington. States and cities must step up, and step up now.
Rhode Island is the birthplace of the industrial revolution and home to the first offshore wind farm in the Western Hemisphere. We've taken the lead before, and we can do it again by launching a Green New Deal right here at home. But we’ve got to fight for it."
