Raimondo orders flags to fly at half staff

Governor Gina Raimondo is directing U.S. and Rhode Island flags at all state agencies and buildings to be flown at half-staff until sunset on November 10 in honor of the victims of Wednesday night’s shooting in California.

"Once again, millions of Americans woke up this morning to news of another horrific mass shooting. My heart breaks for the victims and their families--their grief is unimaginable. Andy and I are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers. But thoughts and prayers aren't enough. Like many Americans today, I'm angry. I'm angry that our leaders in Washington have repeatedly failed to take action on gun safety. I'm angry that innocent lives were lost. There can be no more waiting. The time for change is now,” said Raimondo.

Raimondo also asks Rhode Islanders to lower their flags to half-staff as a mark of respect.
