Raimondo Directs Flags to Fly at Half-Staff to Honor the Victims of Synagogue Shooting
Sunday, October 28, 2018
In accordance with a presidential proclamation, Governor Gina M. Raimondo is directing U.S. and Rhode Island flags at all state agencies and buildings to be flown at half-staff until sunset on October 31, 2018, in honor of the victims of yesterday's shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
"No one should have to fear violence at their place of worship," said Raimondo. "Yesterday, eleven innocent lives were lost in a hateful, horrific attack on a synagogue. Andy and I are praying for the victims, their families, and the entire Tree of Life Synagogue community. I'm also praying that our leaders in Washington finally take action and do something about gun violence."
Raimondo also asks Rhode Islanders to lower their flags to half-staff as a mark of respect.
