Providence's Curfew Lifted

Plywood on city storefronts
The City of Providence has lifted the curfew instituted after Tuesday morning’s riots.

In anticipation of Friday's protest, ultimately a peaceful march from Kennedy Plaza to the Rhode Island House, retailers, courthouses, hotels, and restaurants across the city boarded up their storefronts.

An estimated 10,000 participated in the protest.

In a press release Saturday the city said:

"Starting tonight, June 6, the citywide curfew will be lifted here in Providence.

We know that the threat of COVID-19 is not behind us and strongly recommend that attendees of last night's gatherings closely monitor themselves for any symptoms.

If you feel sick, please get tested so we continue to see improvements in health outcomes statewide."
