Workers are crowding the otherwise desolate city streets trying to cover every window before a protest is scheduled to begin at Kennedy Plaza at 4:30 PM and continue to the Rhode Island State House.

The event, which portrays itself as a Black Lives Matter event but is not supported by the local BLM group, have groups -- and law enforcement -- watching the event.

As GoLocal exclusively reported, an internal department memo sent by Providence Police Lt. William Brown states that a Providence policewoman found piles of projectiles during a patrol.

The memo outlines the discovery and urges the inspection of areas and states, “it does not take long for these items to get placed,” states Brown’s memo.

State officials are leading the response and working to avoid a repeat of Tuesday night’s rioting and looting.
