Providence, Rhode Island — or Beijing, China?
On Sunday, the Providence Journal was delivered to some subscribers in an odd choice of packaging.

“I thought it was a practical joke,” subscriber Ryan Connole told GoLocal.
Others chimed in and posted to social media that they had received their paper in the not-so-local protective sleeve as well.
The actual China Daily is an English-language daily newspaper owned by the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party and has a reported daily circulation of 900,000.
Latest for ProJo
As GoLocal reported last week, the Providence Journal’s weekday print circulation has fallen to less than 30,000 for week day circulation -- a decrease of more than 85%. In addition, the newspaper has announced more restrictions to their online product, de facto making more of the Journal’s content only available to subscribers.
The newspaper is one of more than 200 daily papers owned by Gannett which is headquartered in McLean, Virginia.
The Journal's Executive Editor David Ng did not respond to request for comment.
