Providence Homicide Suspect Arrested

Providence Police announced on Wednesday that a man suspected of a homicide in the city in August has been identified. 

According to police, Robert Ayers age 44, was arrested -- and charged -- for the murder of Robert Fountaine.

Fountaine died on August 25 in his home on Ethan Street in the Sliver Lake section of Providence.

He was 75 years old.

Police say Fountaine was followed home by Ayers before he was physically assaulted and killed in his residence. 

It is the city’s sixth homicide of the year.
