Providence Announces Parking Ban

Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza’s administration announces that a parking ban will go into effect at 8:00 AM, Sunday until further notice. Residents with overnight parking passes are advised that they cannot park on the street during the duration of the citywide parking ban. All vehicles parked on the street in violation of the citywide parking ban will be ticketed and towed to ensure that roadways can be plowed curb to curb.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Rhode Island and Massachusetts on Sunday.

According to NWS, heavy snow is possible — with snow accumulations of four to eight inches — and wind gusts of up to forty miles an hour.  And, Accuweather says, "Breezy and colder with periods of snow, 6-10"; untreated roads will be snow packed and slippery."
