The Providence Fire Fighters IAFF Local 799 will offer free rides home from bars and restaurants within Providence city limits to New Year's Eve partiers starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 31 and ending at 7 a.m. on Friday, January 1, 2016.

This is the second year in a row that the fire fighters are doing this but is the first year under the safe night program.

“We are sworn to keep city residents safe, and take that oath very seriously. We are launching Safe Night in an effort to cut down on the number of potential drunk driving accidents by offering free rides from Providence bars and restaurants to residents who may not be able to make it home safely on their own," said Paul Doughty, President of Providence Fire Fighters IAFF Local 799.
