Principal Assaulted in Latest Violence at Mount Pleasant High School, Providence Police Make Arrests

A high school principal was assaulted and multiple people were arrested at Mount Pleasant High School in Providence on Wednesday, GoLocal has learned.
It marks the latest in a series of violent incidents and arrests at the public school in the city.
According to police, officers responded shortly after noon on Wednesday to the altercation.

Latest in Violent Incidents at Providence High School
In January 2024, a gun was found following a fight at a basketball game at Mount Pleasant.
Last December, while Governor Dan McKee was visiting Mt Pleasant, a student was arrested for having a gun.
In October 2023, GoLocal reported that in less than a year, two Providence high school principals had been sent to the hospital — including at Mt. Pleasant.
