It is with tremendous sadness that I am writing to inform you that we were notified this morning of the passing of Cranston High School East faculty member, Meaghan McGonagle.
Mrs. McGonagle served as a Business teacher with the Cranston Public Schools for many years, most recently at Cranston East. She was also a well-respected and beloved coach of the Thunderbolt Boys and Girls Volleyball teams. Meg was immensely proud of her many positions at Cranston East. Needless to say, this is a devastating loss for our school and the entire community at large. Most importantly, Meg was most proud of her wonderful family, whom she most often spoke with love and pride.
I ask that you please keep Mrs. McGonagle and her family in your thoughts and respect the family’s privacy at this very difficult time. Due to the tremendous loss to our school community, we will be dismissing our school at 10:30 this morning. Grab and go lunches will be available to any students who wish to take one. Buses will be transporting students home at 10:30. Additionally, counseling services will be provided to any of our students in need. Counselors will be available at Cranston East throughout the day today and tomorrow.
Any student in need of support services may remain at Cranston East today. Transportation will also be provided at 2:00 for any students who are still at school.
With Deepest Sympathies, Sean T. Kelly
