PODCAST: Free Pensions Cost RI $18 Million

This year Rhode Island will pay out $18 million in what are effectively free pensions to hundreds of retired judges and state police officers. For nearly 40 of the retirees, pensions top six figures. This circumstance is the result of a loophole in the system which allowed the retirees to work without making any contributions to their pensions for decades.
