Wind Advisory in Effect Tuesday Night; Up to 5 Inches of Snow and Sleet Possible in RI on Friday

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a wind advisory for parts of Rhode Island starting at 8 PM Tuesday night. 

On Friday, NWS is predicting up to three to five inches of snow and slush.

According to NWS, south winds of 15 to 25 MPH with gusts of 50 MPH are expected in Rhode Island Tuesday night. 

“Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result,” according to NWS.

The wind advisory is in effect until 5 AM Wednesday. 

Winter Weather Friday

Tonight: Showers, mainly before 1am. Patchy fog before 3am, then patchy fog after 4am. Low around 50. Breezy, with a south wind 8 to 13 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers between 1pm and 2pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Southwest wind 9 to 16 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 25. Northwest wind 7 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 36. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Thursday Night: Snow, mainly after 2am. Low around 26. Light northeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Friday: Snow and sleet before 2pm, then rain likely, possibly mixed with snow between 2pm and 4pm, then a chance of snow after 4pm. High near 37. Northeast wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Friday Night: A chance of snow before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. North wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 33. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.
