Child Shot and Killed in Warwick; Man Found Dead From Apparent Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

Warwick Police have released a statement on the "active crime scene" under investigation on Thursday morning.

Shortly after 10 AM, police released the following statement: 

"On Thursday, March 21, 2024, at approximately 8:24 AM, members of the Warwick Police Department responded to 71 Frawley St for a domestic disturbance.

Prior to arrival they received information that a child had been shot and the alleged assailant was still inside the home with a firearm.

Officers gained entry into the home and discovered the deceased body of a small child as well as an adult male who was also deceased; having suffered from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

While detectives continue to piece together the events leading up to this horrific crime, the members of the Warwick Police Department send our deepest condolences to the family members and those affected by this senseless and unimaginable act. As a community we are saddened by the events that occurred today. 

No further information will be provided at this time."

As GoLocal reported earlier on Thursday, police were investigating the scene. 

Warwick Police are investigating an active crime scene in the city on Thursday morning. 

Warwick schools were placed on lockdown temporarily; that has now been lifted. 

“We are investigating an active crime scene on Frawley Street,” Chief Brad Connor told GoLocal. 

“There is no threat to the area at this point,” he added. 

Connor said that detectives will continue to be at the scene.

Police are expected to release more information shortly.
