In July of 2019, the State expanded the number of compassion center licenses, making six compassion center licenses available. The DBR finalized regulations in March of this year that established:
* the application criteria,
* geographic zones detailing where the new compassion centers will be located, and
* a randomized selection process, in the form of a lottery, to award the six licenses.
An applicant may submit an application in multiple zones but may only be awarded one license in a single zone. Interested parties can expect to receive more information on the review and selection proceedings once the DBR has assessed application volume.
DBR said it is committed to "a transparent and fair licensing process."
Any questions from interested parties must be emailed to [email protected] with the subject line entitled “Medical Marijuana Compassion Center Application Questions.”
Questions and the Department’s answers will be posted on the DBR website so that all Applicants will have access to the same information.
The DBR said it "reserves the right to not respond to questions concerning matters that are already addressed in the Application, the Act and/or the Regulations or which are immaterial or inappropriate."
