NEW: RI Beach Water Quality Among Worst in the Nation

Rhode Island ranks 25th out of 30 states in beach water quality, according to a new report for the National Resources Defense Council.
28 out of 69 Rhode Island beaches tested in 2013 by the NRDC exceeded the National Beach Action Value of “60 enterococcus bacteria colony forming units (cfu) per 100 ml marine or estuarine water in a single sample” at least once.

RI Beaches Exceed Bacteria Limits
The following beaches exceeded the BAV standard in 2013 sampling. The percentages given for each beach illustrate what percentage of the water samples exceeded the BAV standard.
