Providence Rec Center Director Arrested on Child Molestation Charges

Providence Police have arrested a Providence Recreation Center Director for child molestation. 

Manuel “Manny” Nunez, 43, the Director of the John Rollins Recreation Center on Ocean Street, was arrested on Monday.

He is charged with at least one count of child molestation involving a child under 14.

According to authorities, the alleged molestation took place at basketball facilities. 

About Nunez

Nunez played basketball at UMass-Boston and played briefly on the And 1 Street Ball tour and in the Dominican Republic professional league.

In 2020, Nunez was recognized by the Rhode Island General Assembly for outstanding contribution to Dominican sport in Rhode Island.

He has also been a streetworker for the Institue for Nonviolence.
