NEW: Providence College Issues Statement After Multiple Students OD and Hospitalized

As GoLocal first reported Saturday morning, multiple Providence College students were treated and hospitalized for drug overdoses.

According to police, the students were consuming cocaine when they began to react to the drugs.

The party was being hosted at an off-campus property located at 44 Liege Street.

Steve Maurano, associate vice president of Public Affairs, Community, and Government Relations, issued the following statement:

 

The College is aware of the incident on Liege Street that happened last evening. First and foremost, we can confirm that all seven students who were treated are ok. We want to thank the City of Providence first responders on scene, as well as College public safety officials, who administered lifesaving care to our students.

 

We are gathering information at this time and will be conducting a thorough investigation in the days ahead.

 

 

Mutual Aid Required

According to Providence Public Safety, the following Fire apparatus were observed to be on scene: Engine 12, Ladder 3, Ladder 7, Battalion 3, Rescues 1, 3,7, 6, North Providence Rescue, Pawtucket Rescue.

This is the second major incident involving Providence College students in the area. In that incident Halloween weekend, more than 1,000 people were involved in fights and the destruction of a car.

In that incident, only one person was arrested. He was not a PC student.
