Man Stabbed in Providence - Suspect Arrested in Possession of Knife
A man was stabbed in Providence on Friday afternoon — and police made an arrest soon after the attack.

Shortly before 4 PM on Friday, police responded to the parking lot of Anthony’s Drug Store at 205 Manton Avenue for a report of a stabbing.

The victim provided police with a description of the suspect, who he said had stabbed him before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported by resuce to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
Police said a short while after the incident, they encountered a man matching the victim’s description of his assailant, at the corner of Kossuth and Bowdoin Streets.
According to police, the man — later identified as William Torres, age 58 — was in possession of a kitchen knife in his pocket.
Torres was handcuffed and taken to Central Station.
