A city employee told police that on Tuesday, November 2, a man by the name of Daniel came to the Board of Licenses and asked for help filling out paperwork for Lit Lounge, located at 971 Broad Street

According to the city employee, “Daniel” completed the paperwork and then also handed the employee a white envelope — which contained $2000 in cash — and left.

The employee notified his supervisor, and police were contacted.

Police then identified the man as Lit Lounge manager Daniel Marlo Caraballo, who returned to City Hall on Wednesday to appear before the Board of Licenses, at which time Caraballo was taken into custody.

He is being charged with one count of bribery of a public official.

The money was seized by detectives and placed into police property.

Lit Lounge attorney Nick Hemond when reached said he did not have enough information about the allegations on Thursday to comment.
