Gov. Carcieri Marks Pearl Harbor Day
Tuesday, December 07, 2010
"Our nation will never forget the events of December 7, nor will we forget those who perished at Pearl Harbor and those who survived that terrible day," Carcieri said.
The remembrance of Pearl Harbor will become more important as time goes on and survivors of the attack begin to pass away. "We continue to lose veterans who are a link to this fateful day in history, such as Alan H. French of North Kingstown, a Pearl Harbor survivor who passed away on Friday and will be buried on the 69th anniversary of the attack. We must continue to honor the service of our World War Ii veterans who witnessed Pearl Harbor, and the sacrifices of those who lost their lives on that day," Carcieri said.
