Crash at Westerly Airport

Rhode Island Airport Corporation announced that at approximately 12:14 pm on Monday, a private airplane (Cessna 172 Skyhawk – tail number N733CP) attempting to land at Westerly Airport (WST) made an emergency landing off of airport property.
According to reports from the Town of Westerly Fire Department, the plane had one occupant - the pilot. Westerly officials announced that the pilot died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Inquiries related to the status of the pilot should be directed to the Westerly Fire or Police Department. Neither of the Westerly Departments has issued a statement as of 2 PM
