Cranston Residents React to Being Number 1

Cranston tops the list of GoLocalProv's exclusive rankings of best communities, and yesterday, Cranston residents had mixed reactions to the news.

"I like Cranston and I'm not surprised it was chosen as a top community," said David Kenowith "Aside from the potholes, it's a good place to live."

One mother of a fourth grader, who declined to give her name, questioned the quality of the schools in the community. "Elementary schools here in Cranston are great, but my other son goes to middle school and the quality of teaching is so far below where it should be," she said. "My fourth grader is learning more in elementary schools. I thought Cranston was great until I learned more about the middle schools here."

Church Knightsville

Another newcomer said housing was over-priced. Mary Ellen Pascalides lives in the East section of Cranston and finds the neighborhoods run down for the price she pays for rent. She said she currently pays $1,000 a month for a two bedroom apartment in the Auburn section.
