UPDATED: Suspect Who Shot at Providence Police and Barricaded Himself Inside Home Apprehended

Providence Police have apprehended a man who reportedly shot at a police vehicle Wednesday morning — then led authorities on a manhunt in the city.

Shortly before 6 AM Wednesday morning, Providence police reported they had an “armed barricaded subject” inside 108 Canton Street.

The suspect then retreated into the house on Canton Street.
After closing off surrounding streets and asking nearby residents to shelter in place, police then pursued the subject to Sears Avenue.
A SWAT team was sent to the Sears Avenue location, where the suspect was surrounded and apprehended.
Police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Luis Roman.
According to police, Roman faces multiple charges.
