UPDATED: Raimondo Ordering Face Coverings in Public in RI

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo announced Tuesday that she is signing an Executive Order director Rhode Islanders to wear face coverings in public — starting Friday.
Raimondo made the announcement at the daily briefing at the Rhode Island State House.

Raimondo said that the order will go into effect on Friday.
“I fully recognize this will be awkward, strange, and a thousand what-ifs,” said Raimondo. “Let me just give you this guidance. I know that the virus spreads very quickly. I know many other cities countries and states have gotten into a bad situation when the virus ran away from them."
“I know we’re going to be putting our foot back on the gas — and covering your nose and mouth has a significant impact on the spread of the disease,” said Raimondo, of the order coinciding with her pledge to lift the stay at home order on May 9.
“I need you to have to have a mask on - within six feet os someone, you should put it on,” said Raimondo.
