Bea Temkin, Mother of Former Mayor Paolino and Editor at RI Monthly, Passes Away

Bea Temkin, one of the most influential and impactful women in Rhode Island, has passed away.

She was a long-time editor at Rhode Island Monthly and the mother of former Providence Mayor and Ambassador to Malta Joseph Paolino, and sister Donna Paolino. 

Born in Providence in 1931, she was married to Joseph R. Paolino and then Martin M. Temkin.

She was the daughter of Judge Luigi DePasquale.

 

Paolino's Remembrance

"My mom was an elegant special person. She was there for every occasion for me.  Every Little League game, every political debate -- she was so happy to tell Hillary Clinton (last) Saturday that she wanted to live to see the first woman President," said former Mayor Joseph Paolino.  

"My mom was my friend as well as my parent and she did everything to make me what I am today. I am going through what so many other families go through. A lesson for all of us --

cherish every moment we have with our parents, because if it was not for them, we would not be where we are today," said Paolino. "Life is short and I thank God that I had my mom for 61 years. Rest in peace mom. I hope I can be as good as a parent to my kids as you were to Donna and me."

Funeral arrangements to be announced.
