Death at Wyatt Detention Center

U.S. Marshals' detainee Gilbert Delestre, who had been held at the Wyatt Detention Facility since July 2, 2019, passed away at Rhode Island Hospital on August 25, 2019, at 2:20 AM. The Detention facility repeatedly refused to provide information to GoLocal about the detainee's death.

GoLocal has learned that the Rhode Island State Police are aware of the death.

According to Wyatt, "Since entering Wyatt, correctional officers and medical staff closely monitored Mr. Delestre, who had previously been diagnosed with and treated for numerous chronic health conditions."
