"There's an Energy for Something New," Says Prov City Council Candidate Santow

Mark Santow
Mark Santow, who is running for the Ward 3 seat on the Providence City Council - after Councilman Kevin Jackson was recalled, spoke to his reasons for getting in the race, and thoughts on major issues facing the ward - and city - on GoLocal LIVE.

Santow, who has lived in the Summit neighborhood for 14 years ands serves on the Providence School Board, said that wants he believes the ward wants something "new" - but shares Jackson's support for such issues as the contentious Community Safety Act.

"There's an energy for something new, a council person who reaches all parts of the ward - it's a diverse place," said Santow. "I want to be the [City Councilman] who brides the gaps -- there are parts of the ward that need resources and other parts that have resources. The [councilperson] needs to bridge those."

Editor's Note: A previous version reported Santow lived in Mt. Hope; it has been corrected to say he lives is Summit.
