"The Numbers Aren't Hard and Fast" - Billington Makes Case for RI Leaders to Come Together on PawSox

Blackstone Valley Tourism Council President Bob Billington on Wednesday made the case for Rhode Islander leaders to all "get around the table" to discuss the fate of the Pawtucket Red Sox, after a tumultuous week that saw Senate President Dominick Ruggerio say there is not enough time left in the General Assembly session to debate the merits of the latest proposal, this year.

"It's unfortunate -- we have amazing leadership," said Billington. "I feel if we can get around one table, we can works this out. I hate to see a season go by, a year to go by."

Billington spoke to the proposal as put forth the the PawSox ownership and city leaders, just weeks ago.

"The numbers are large," said Billington. "It seemed like we were in the eleventh hour -- it seemed like we were under pressure to make a decision, but I didn't see the numbers as hard and fast."
