The Matty Project Talks 2019 Matty Gras Gala on LIVE

Formally The Matty Fund, the non-profit expanded In February of 2017, merging with the Epilepsy Foundation of New England (EFNE), and became The Matty Project, which now serves four states including RI, MA, ME and NH.
Christina Vilardi and David Searles of The Matty Project joined GoLocal LIVE’s Chelsea Guay to discuss the impact of integrating the two foundations and the many events happening over the course of this year, including the organization's yearly gala, happening this weekend in Providence.
Returning for its 17th year, the theme of the gala this Saturday is "Matty Gras." The New Orleans style bash will feature live entertainment, silent auctions, food, and drink and all proceeds will benefit the Matty Project and its ongoing initiatives.
When asked about the visible impact of the organization, Searles noted the impact of hearing individuals mention that they "have never been around so many people like me" and noted the a-ha moment of seeing individuals young and old realize they are in a room full of their peers, brought together by The Matty Project.
Much of the discussion on GoLocal LIVE - WATCH ABOVE - was about what we can expect from the event this weekend as well as the impact that the proceeds will have over the coming year.
