House Majority Leader Joseph Shekarchi joined GoLocal News Editor on GoLocal LIVE at the Rhode Island State House, where he spoke to his recent legislative proposal that he said would “help the many small business owners who will be hit by higher federal taxes under President [Donald] Trump’s new tax laws.”

Shekarchi, who spoke to the bill’s particulars, said that in Rhode Island, the tax break would be “revenue neutral.”

In addition, Shekarchi also spoke to being a co-sponsor on bi-partisan legislation to address asset forfeiture reform in the state. 

The bill, introduced by Republican Representative Brian Newberry, aims to reform Rhode Island’s asset forfeiture laws by focusing on seizures, due process, and transparency.
