Comedian Maryann “Boom Boom” Maisano appeared on GoLocal LIVE where she spoke to the upcoming performance of the “Italian Chicks” in East Greenwich on June 15 — and the reaction the show got last time it was in Rhode Island.

“The people, the show we did last time — was so amazing. It’s like a wedding at the end of the show — there’s a reception line,” Maisano. “These people just want to hug us, kiss us, and say oh my god, that was so amazing, oh my god, it reminded me of being at Grandma’s house on Sunday. Oh my god, I heard words that I haven’t heard since my Nana was alive.”

“These are things that make you feel good. It’s all about keeping the culture and traditions alive, and we do it in a funny kind of way," said Maisano. "I’ve added some additional people to the group and I use them almost as stand-ins for different things because all of us are doing a lot of different things with the show, and then separately, which is why I think the show has lasted so long — because we really support each other and love each other."

Maisano spoke to her own upcoming performance plans — beyond “Italian Chicks.”

"I have my own one-woman play that I’m trying to bring to Rhode Island in Westerly — it’s about an hour and ten minutes long and it’s full of agita," said Maisano.
