"Italian Chicks" Maisano on Upcoming Rhode Island Show on LIVE
“It’s a passionate comedy with a little drama,” said Maisano about the performance, which is presented by Danny Aiello and stars Mary Dimino, Regina DeCicco, Gina Scared, and Tara Cannistraci.
Former banker-turned-comic Maisano spoke to growing up Italian, and how audiences relate to the show from their own upbringings.
“And if you want to know where the ‘Boom-Boom’ came from — you have to come to the show,” said Maisano.
Rhode Island Ties
The show is being produced locally by Rhode Island native Carol Anne Costa.
“How many of us can close our eyes and realize that growing up in an Italian family brings so many memories; some good, some bad, but, always tasty and surrounded by music. Let’s face it the heritage and culture of Italian Americans is and always will be robust,” said Costa.
“I grew up in the four corners of this glorious state, from my youth spent with my cousins in the Silver Lake section of Providence, to the glory of down city where shopping on Saturdays was akin to religion, to the summers spent in Westerly and Narragansett all steeped in Italian traditions,” said Costa. “So when I got the opportunity to bring a show to Rhode Island that celebrates those very traditions enveloped in comedy and music, I took it.”
