Linn Freedman, head of Robinson & Cole’s data privacy and security team says while smartphones are great communication devices they could be revealing a lot about you including, personal information like your texts, emails, passwords, contacts, and location.

On LIVE Freedman shared several tips for protecting your data and privacy including the following:

  • Use a password/passkey for your lock screen    
  • Don’t allow your smartphone’s web browser to remember usernames and passwords 
  • Use encryption 
  • Disable photo geotagging 
  • Always run software updates 
  • Use pass-phrases like “MyfavoritecolorisRed!”
  • Be smart about who you connect with on social media
