LIVE: Sustainable Flowers Arrangements For Spring

Anna Kocon owner of Little State Flower Company says she started growing high-end flowers, herbs and flower products because she felt the need to provide sustainable options for events and weddings in the Rhode Island market. Kocon says when people choose locally sourced flowers it leaves a low carbon footprint, and it’s good for the local economy.

Kocon partners with florist Jill Rizzo owner of Studio Choo East to provide local and sustainable flowers for weddings, events and workshops in the community.

Rizzo has published two books and holds workshops on floral arrangements.

Rizzo says when making arrangements, she uses looks for flowers with colors that compliment each other and likes to use odd numbers to make arrangements look visually interesting. Rizzo says she uses a flower frog to make an arrangement because it’s easy to use and  much better for the environment than floral foam.
