LIVE: Social Worker Reposa Says Speaking Up Could Save A Life

Leigh Reposa
September is National Suicide Prevention Month and Leigh Reposa, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker at Rhode Island Student Assistance Services(RISAS) says speaking up could make a difference in someone’s life.

“Anybody can be involved in suicide prevention,” says Reposa, who is the Program Manager of the Youth Suicide Prevention Program at RISAS, “anybody is in a position to save a life.”

Reposa says multiple organizations like Suicide Prevention Lifeline and The American Foundation For Suicide Prevention have similar strategies like “Be the Voice” encouraging people to ask questions if it seems like something is off with a person they know.

If you are concerned about yourself or someone else, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255(TALK) it’s open 24 hours a day.
