Friday, March 02, 2018
In an interview with LIVE, Providence College assistant professor of biology Laura Williams, Ph.D., explains predatory bacteria survive and grow by attacking other bacteria, including things that cause disease in humans.
The microbiologist says studying predatory bacteria is highly beneficial because they could be applied to infectious disease.
Williams says because they know antibiotic resistance is a big problem in current healthcare, they are interested in studying predatory bacteria to see if it “could be used as a living alternative to antibiotics.”
