LIVE: DARE Calls on RI Housing to Make Greater Effort to Address Affordable Housing

Malchus Mills
Direct Action for Rights and Equality (DARE) board member Malchus Mills spoke with GoLocal's Kate Nagle ahead of Thursday's event in front of RI Housing, when DARE, along with homeless advocates from the RI Homeless Advocacy Project (RIHAP) and Jobs with Justice will be highlighting how they say the $10 million "revitalization" program they rolled out in late July (a part of the housing bond from November's ballot) is not going to benefit low-income Rhode Islander's with affordable housing and jobs.

According to DARE, "RIH made this more like a TSA giveaway to already well off folks with high-income limits and a lack of criteria to ensure 'revitalization' and commercial projects funnel these state dollars to those in the most need and create the longest lasting impact."
