“To see the delight in people’s eyes when they focus on the art work, they’re able to stay in the room with other people, and they’re able to concentrate and talk about what they’ve created afterward, it’s just a blessing to witness that everyday,” Carpenter says.
Combining art and healing, Carpenter works with adults with chronic and acute neurological, psychiatric, orthopedic and cognitive impairments. She serves as the chairperson of the visual arts sub-committee of Butler Hospital’s Healing Arts Committee, and helps patients with their healing journeys.
“I just so love people being delighted with their own work,” says Carpenter.
As an artist, Carpenter works using a variety of media including wood, ceramics, paint, mixed media, and photography.
Carpenter is participating in the Wickford Art Association’s annual “Juried Artist Member Invitational” at 36 Beach Street in North Kingstown. The exhibit runs through August 20 and admission to the gallery is free.
