Kow Kow's Khammahavong Highlights Unique Flavors of Ice Cream on LIVE

Kow Kow is the first of it’s kind here in Providence, serving ice cream in a very unique cone. Khammahavong uses a special iron to make her bubble waffle cone creations. “Bubble Waffle is something I grew up on. I would visit Chinatown in Boston, pretty much every weekend to eat the bubble waffles, so they’ve been a part of my life for a long time. They are just like a regular waffle but with some Asian inspired flavor like custard powder and tapioca flour."
Using local product from Warwick Ice cream, Khammahavong tops these sweet treats with things like fresh berries, drizzles of condensed milk, and whole Oreos. With her, she brought her limited edition special, the Very Rhody “It is my traditional bubble waffle, with scoops of coffee ice cream, chocolate wafer cookies, crushed oreo crumbles, and a drizzle of hazelnut chocolate”.
Since opening, she has sold roughly 600 ice cream cones, and has received a very warm reception here in the food community of Providence. “For every 1000 cones we sell, we will donate 1000 canned goods to the Rhode Island Food Bank. Giving back to the community is very important”, Khammahavong says.
You can find Kow Kow parked on the East Side near Brown University, and often at events like the Providence Flea and soon at the indoor market in the Providence Arcade. Follow her on Instagram at @KowKowfood.
