GoLocal Founding Members Krasinksi and Minkin LIVE on 10 Year Anniversary

Tracey Minkin and Paul Krasinski
GoLocal Co-Founder Paul Krasinski and GoLocal Founding Lifestyle Editor Tracey Minkin appeared on GoLocal LIVE on the news organization’s 10th anniversary.

From the beginnings of GoLocal to where it is now, Krasinski, the Co-Founder of Epicenter Experience in Boston, and Minkin, now Travel Editor at Coastal Living, shared their insights.

“I will tell you in [these] times of crisis, I think certainly innovation is at its highest, and you and I saw the opportunity where the old-school way of presenting journalism --  tellings stories, and actually fully being local -- was just not being served in the market,” said Krasinski. “Who would have thought the ‘back of the envelope idea’ would turn into this, with all these studios — I’m envious.”

“Early on we had some interesting conversations with people who said either, you know, consumer businesses are very difficult, to how are you going to get it up and running, to how are you going to compete against the stalwart,” added Krasinski. “But one thing I knew always is that you trust your teammate and it’s always the people first that make it, and you were always the one to say never quit.”

Minkin, who says she had been traveling three weeks out of four a month at Coastal Living before the coronavirus, provided her perspective on where the media business is, and what it is facing.

“This is a fascinating time to be alive,” said Minkin. “When we started together ten years ago with GoLocal, you had this vision — for really bringing local news back to the doorsteps of local people, through where they were spending their time, increasingly online — which has borne fruit to a level I had never even imagined.”

“I was a true believer when we joined forces in the fact that we live on our phones, and how we interact with our phones so intimately has borne out and as we look at what’s happening in the pandemic, and how people are leaning into technology in certain ways while they think about simplifying their lives and prioritizing, I think there’s never been a more opportune time for media,” she added.
