DBR Director Tanner Talks Cutting Red Tape for RI Businesses

Liz Tanner, the Director of Rhode Island’s Department of Business Regulation, joined GoLocal LIVE’ Business Monday to discuss the effort to streamline the state’s regulatory structure.

Tanner discussed how the initiative started with getting the input of over 4,000 business leaders in Rhode Island and then went on to cut tens of thousands of unnecessary regulations.

The other initiatives are focused on digitizing Rhode Island’s thousands of business forms to allow for E-Filling.

The effort has also been integrated into training staff at Commerce Rhode Island and establishing a hotline to help business owners to get answers to questions fast.

Previous to heading DBR, Tanner she headed the Client Service Division at Commerce and prior to that was a small businesswoman.
