City Year Providence Looking to Recruit More Rhode Island Candidates

City Year Providence Executive Director Jennie Johnson spoke with GoLocal's Kate Nagle about her desire to see more Rhode Island candidates  take part in the AmeriCorps service program, with the application for next year's program due in October.  

City Year has had a significant positive impact in Rhode Island over the years.

Since 1993, City Year AmeriCorps members have positively impacted Providence's most disadvantaged schools. Over the past two decades: 

•    Deployed more than 1,000 AmeriCorps members
•    Given 2.5 million hours of service to Providence
•    Led 5,000 volunteers to give back to the community
