Matteo's Bakery Owner Albanese Gives Look at His legendary Cannolis on LIVE

“We are known for our cannolis. We have people coming in who have tried them all over the state and keep coming back to Matteo’s. It’s a secret recipe, but my mother taught me that the most simple recipes are the best. We are always doing new things like cannolis dipped in German chocolate, or a shot Nutella in the cannoli cream,” says Albanese.
Matteo’s Bakery comes after growing up in the family business, “I was nine years old working in my father’s Italian bakery on Charles Street. It has always been a part of our lives.”
Albanese named the bakery after his own son, who he also involves in the business.
Keeping the history of baking in the family, Albanese’s wife Leyla specializes in custom cakes. “She has done over two thousand cakes, and really takes the design to the next level. She is super talented and has been doing cakes for over ten years. I do the Italian pastry and she handles the high-end cakes. It is a small, family oriented business. People come in and want to have that one-on-one communication with us.”
Albanese keeps all of the traditional Italian baked goods and pastries stocked in house.
“We are known for our breakfast pastries like cinnamon rolls and cream cheese danish. Our biscuits are phenomenal. We do egg and wine biscuits and these little bite size pepper biscuits, which I call pepper nuggets. People go absolutely crazy for them.”
Visit Matteo’s Bakery at 820 Boston Neck Road in North Kingstown for your Italian baked goods or custom cakes for any occasion.
