VIDEO: Nike Pulls Shoe With Betsy Ross Flag, Top GOP Consultant Weighs In

Nike's Betsy Ross sneakers pulled
After a complaint from Colin Kaepernick, Nike announced its decision not to release a new Independence Day-themed shoe that was scheduled to hit stores on July 1.

The sudden decision is reportedly due to Kaepernick contacting Nike and expressing offense over the inclusion of the late 18th-century flag. Kaepernick, an official Nike endorser, found the Betsy Ross flag to be offensive due to its connection to the slavery era in the U.S.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the shoe was already shipped to retailers and Nike has requested stores return their shipments. Kaepernick has yet to speak publicly about his involvement in Nike’s decision.
